Saint Mary's is the CIF Division IV Enrollment State School of the Year!

In mid-July, Cal-Hi Sports named Saint Mary’s CIF Division IV Enrollment State School of the YearThe announcement read: “Saint Mary’s is one of the oldest schools in the Bay Area and for the first time the Panthers have been honored for all-around athletic excellence. They did it for 2007-08 primarily for their strength in three sports: boys basketball, girls cross country and boys cross country. At the CIF state meet in cross country, both Saint Mary's teams were second in team scoring in Division IV. Then in the winter, led by brothers Will and Chris Brew, the Panthers won the CIF NorCal Div. IV title in boys basketball before losing to Campbell Hall in the state final. Saint Mary's also was a quarterfinalist in the CIF Div. IV girls volleyball state playoffs, with All-American Tarah Murrey leading the way, and was state-ranked in Div. IV for much of the season in baseball and girls basketball.” Additionally, the North Coast Section awarded Saint Mary’s girls track team a third place scholastic honor for a team GPA of 3.27.

Panthers State Ranked! - September 3, 2008

This morning, the online website dyestatcal.com released its initial state ranking, by division, for cross country and both the boys and girls teams are ranked in the top 10. The boys, who a year ago were the state runner-ups, are ranked 6th in the state for Division IV. The girls, meanwhile, who also finished 2nd at the State Championships last winter are the top-ranked team in California in Division IV. The rankings are updated about once a month, so check in on the Panthers progress. Congratulations to both teams!
