Dan Ferrigno Accepts a Postion at San Diego State

Saint Mary’s High, Berkeley, announced today the resignation of first-year head football coach, Dan Ferrigno, who came to the Berkeley school this past fall from U.C. Berkeley. Ferrigno has taken a coaching position at San Diego State University, effective immediately. In a farewell letter to his team, Ferrigno said the new position presented him “with an opportunity that allows me to better provide for my family and for our future. This opportunity just came up over Christmas break; I was not looking to leave Saint Mary’s.” His two stepsons will remain at the high school, and he plans to continue being an active part of the parent community, commuting between Southern California and his home in the East Bay. Ferrigno commended the Panther athletes for their passion, heart, and effort, in spite of the lack of a practice field or home game while the school’s new track and field complex was constructed. The new Thomas M. Brady Park will be dedicated on Friday, January 9.

The school is pleased to announce that Keith Minor has accepted the position of new faculty member and Panthers’ head football coach. Minor is a 1989 graduate of Saint Mary’s.   He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal studies and is completing his Master’s and teaching credential in education at Holy Names University.   He has been head football coach at Balboa High School in San Francisco for the past seven years.
