Meeting called to order at 6:10pm

SCHOOL REPORT- Brother Kenneth

*School Activities
1. All Student Assembly (630 students) for the Education Speech by President Obama - students were attentive, and great discussion took place.
2. Senior Retreat on the horizon. Brother David facilitating; PA Hospitality assist with food.
3. Back to School Night - suggestions to make lengthen 10-min. period in between classes to allow parents more time to talk to faculty.
*Parent Association related
1. Hospitality forms - good results; event-planning improved.
2. Discussion and decided to share the Hospitality calendar with PA Board.
3. Finance - PA budget in good shape.
a. Purchases clarification - Budget codes and signatory pathways are crisp. First items must be approved to purchase. Purchaser MUST have an itemized receipt to receive reimbursement. Fill out reimbursement form and give to Treasurer or Brother Kenneth (in-person or deliver in his mailbox).
b. Event Chairs - must know their budget prior to making purchases.
c. Booster Football Dinners are charged to Boosters budget.
d. Mother-Son Dance -to advertise,  Brother Kenneth will visit classrooms.
e. Parent Formation Evenings -- are now on the school schedule.

TREASURER REPORT- Nancy Torres
Our accounting is in good shape. Current balance is $29,261.00.
Net monies from Silent Auction & Crab Feed are divided into 2 pots:
90% donated to Tuition Aid/ Scholarship Fund; 10% to PA discretionary funds.
Suggestion made that PA in Spring 2010 revisit the 10% funds for additional donation to Tuition Scholarship Fund.

ONGOING BUSINESS
Committee Reports
Hospitality Report - Erlinda Vance (via email due to Annual Fund Meeting)
A few more parents joined the committee. Faculty and Staff are submitting the hospitality request forms. Immersion Program Info Night had at least 170 people attending. Fireside Chat Dinners are an addition this year.

Volunteer Committee - Kathy Hill (via email)
She's out of town, and will be in touch on Thursday.

Communication - Cathy Harmon
Saint Mary's webpage, under Parent News will start to announce PA Board Meeting dates with agenda. How to inform parents of school events? Discussion about a weekly or twice a month email blast to families announcing upcoming events.

Silent Auction - Babs Wardwell and Janet James
Crab Feed & Silent Auction will be on February 6, 2010. First meeting Wed., Sept. 16, 6pm, St. Joseph's Hall. Donation forms and letters ready.

Boosters - Parents represented
Need to recycle more. Every Friday night football dinners use paper plates. Green efforts: Rita brought home silverware and washed them. Is there a rotation system that could be established? Brought and bought compost bags at a cost of $2.25. How about coordinate with the Green Panthers and/or est. Green Panthers Parent Group?

e-Scrip & Community Bonding - Rita Kovas
1. e-Scrip: one-third of the families are registered. Lots of outreach has occurred. Need to continue advertising - esp. to annually update card(s).
2. Community Bonding: 4 South Pacific tickets were donated to staff.

PA Laptop - Donna McRae
Cost is below $1,200.00. Will be property of the Parent Association

TAP (Teacher Appreciation Program) - Elaine Ercolini

1. Get a Wish List of school items. Bro. Kenneth will talk with faculty and share with Elaine Parental. 
2. Tap into the professional services parents can offer at a discount to our faculty and staff. A person's services would be advertised while providing a discount to faculty and staff.  Those participating will have their name and contact information, professional service, and discount offered on a list.

Class Representatives- Sharon Jelinsky (Sr.), Donna McRae (Jr.), 
Shawna Foster (Soph.), and Gloria Espinoza (Frosh)

1.  Senior class - is GREAT! Senior College Night - if can attend, worth it!
2.  Junior class - students will run Cal Booth 9/12. Monies will be divided up evenly among the groups who worked. End of the school year Junior class sponsored events are Senior Breakfast and Baccalaureate.
3. Sophomore class - going well.
4. Freshman class - has the monthly birthday dates for providing treats to the faculty and staff. All is well with Frosh class.

New Business
Mother-Son - Fatima Espejo-Orellana
Friday, October 9th:  "Black and White" dance; $25 per ticket, includes a 5x7 photo; will be held in the Shea Center; have secured DJ and photographer.

Parent Education Night - Nancy Fenstermacher
New chair for this committee is Nancy Fenstermacher;  Brother Kenneth is liaison.

Motion: To have approved PA Board minutes posted on the webpage monthly.
Seconded, and approved.

Meeting adjourned 8:10 pm
